CONDITIONALS

A- EVEN IF=EVEN THOUGH
You must go tomorrow if you are ready. Hazırsan gitmelisin.
You must go tomorrow even if you aren’t ready. Hazır olmasan da gitmelisin.

B- WHETHER ........OR = IF ........OR
You must go tomorrow whether you are ready or not.

C- UNLESS+OLUMLU=IF+OLUMSUZ
Unless you start at once you’ll be late.=If you don’t start at once you will be late.
Unless you had a permit you couldn’t get a job abroad.=If you didn’t have a permit ...

D- PROVIDED (THAT)
Güçlü bir sınırlama veya kısıtlama varsa if yerine kullanılabilir. Özellikle izin verme işinde kullanılabilir. That burada optionaldır.
You can camp here in my field provided you leave no mess.

E- SUPPOSE/SUPPOSING......=WHAT IF
Suppose the plane is late? Ya uçak gecikirse?
What if the plane is late? = What will happen if the plane is late?
Suppose no one had been there? Ya orada kimse bulunmasaydı?
What if no one had been there? = What would have happened if no one had been there?

F- IF ONLY
Only, if ‘ten sonra kullanılarak birlikte kullanılacak eyleme göre ümit, dilek, veya pişmanlık belirtebilir.
If only + şimdiki zaman /will, ümit ifade eder.
If only he comes in time =We hope he will come in time.
If only he will listen to her.

If only+geçmiş/geçmiş öncesi, pişmanlık ifade eder.Wish +geçmiş ile aynı anlamdadır.
If only he didn’t smoke.=We wish he didn’t smoke.=We are sorry he smokes.
If only Tom were here!=I wish Tom were here.
If only you hadn’t said ‘liar’.

If only + would, şimdiki zamana ait bir üzüntüyü anlatır.If only +geçmiş yapısına karşı bir seçenek oluşturur.
If only he would drive more slowly! Ne olur biraz yavaş sürse.
Ayrıca geleceğe dönük güçsüz bir umudu anlatır.
If only the rain would stop! Yağmur bir/keşke kesilse.(ama umut yok, kesileceğini ummuyoruz.)
