10 PAST SIMPLE
The day ....began ......( begin ) terribly. My alarm ...didn’t go off.......( go off ) and I ….left .........( leave ) the house with only 1 hour to spare before the plane ...was.......( be ) due to take off. Luckily there . ...was.......( be ) very little traffic and I ..arrived........ ( arrive ) at the airport with 30 minutes to spare. I ....checked......( check ) in at the gate and ....went......( go ) for a coffee. Just as I ....sat...... ( sit ) down , the announcer .....called.....( call ) my flight. I .....drank.....( drink ) my coffee quickly, too quickly in fact as I ...spilled.......( spill ) some on my shirt. I ...fallowed.......( fallow ) the sign to the departure gate and ...went....... ( go ) through passport control. I .....sat..... ( sit ) down in the departure lounge. It ....was ...... ( be ) full of teenagers, obviously a school trip. They .....were making.....( make ) a terrible noise. And then I ....heard......(hear ) that terrible announcement, the one you don't want to hear. There ....was......( be ) a problem with the engine. I ...look.......( look ) around for a place to get another coffee. I ....saw......(see ) a drinks machine so I ....went...... ( go ) over to get some. I ….put.........( put ) in my money and ...pressed.......( pres ) the button for black coffee. When I ......picked....( pick ) up the cup, it ...contained....... ( contain ) only water. At that moment, the hostess …..announced........ ( announce ) . that the plane was delayed because of bad weather.
11 PAST SIMPLE
